This!
And these too:
When I was selecting the popcorn maker on Amazon, I noticed it qualified for "Super Saver Shipping" (a.k.a. free shipping) if I could add another small item to the order. Well, I could either pay the $6 for no reason, or I could tack on these pretty popsicle molds instead. They're much fancier than any molds I've used before, made of silicon to make removal cursing-free. I filled them up with some juice, and will try one after dinner tonight.
In the meantime....
Mwahaha.
This is the result of a quarter cup of corn kernels poured into the funnel, plus five minutes of patience. The instruction booklet said to add a half cup, which would yield 3 quarts of popcorn. As in, 12 cups. As much as Sweetie and I like popcorn, I think one enormous bowl was more than adequate.
I sprayed the popped corn with canola oil and sprinkled in fine salt, but despite the oil it didn't stick very well. I expected Sweetie to be disappointed with the blandness. On the contrary, he was delighted. "It isn't burnt or kettle-flavored!" he exclaimed after the first handful. The bowl disappeared quickly with his "assistance" (after I hoarded a few handfuls, I let him plop the whole thing on his lap and work diligently on the rest). Despite his enthusiasm, I think next time I'll cave and melt a tablespoon of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Light for more flavor.

That is a fun little addition to your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteMM, many popcorn and movie nights in your future, no?
I always fall in to Amazon's $25 trap and end up spending more than if I'd just paid for shipping.
ReplyDeleteThe popsicle molds are pretty cool..beats the ones I picked up at Target for sure. :)
